About the NSUI

The origins of students’ movement in this country dates back to the origin of the whole concept of organized movement. And so does the history of the philosophy that NSUI’s existence. Infect, history bears testimony to the fact that no movement worldwide has ever been successful without an active participation of the students. Several thousands of well-read, intelligent and capable students, who could have comfortably chased their educations mid-way and jumped the bandwagon of Mahatma Gandhi’s call, in pursuit of something much more significant. NSUI salutes this spirit and owes its existence largely to this school of thought. We take pride in being the legacy of this great movement for Indian independence.

NSUI is today, not only India’s, but one of the world’s largest students’ movements. What’s more important, is that NSUI is the only students’ movement in the world’s largest democracy, that seeks to be a representative of each and every student of this country. Whereas most other organizations are based on policies that inevitably alienate and exclude certain sections of the society, NSUI believes in pursuing a truly inclusivist, pluralist and a socialist agenda. The premiere students’ body seeks to represent the hopes and aspirations of millions of India students, irrespective of their caste, creed, regional, religious or linguistic identities.
